Race Again: Blog

Alp: Well its time again.

Debbie: Dam it, I was hoping you where in some raciest hell, you low life redneck.

Alp: Yea well don’t let your progressive hopes and delusions die, may I recommend a new set of hopes with a more conservative out look.

Debbie: you’re kidding!

Alp: No, but I am here to address race, because practically every time I read a an article written by a black author all I see is the it is racism that is the cause of Presidents Obama’s troubles.

Debbie: And your point would be what? You racist!

Alp: Well as I once mentioned I grew up poor after my father died and I had a full experience of USDA food, Food stamps and moving three or four times a year to avoid creditors.
This made me the new kid at school three or four times a year and since we lived in the poor part of town, the majority of my schools student population was black.

Debbie: So your point is? Sounds like a good way to see the other side of life to me.

Alp: Not only was I new, but we went cloth shopping at Good Will, I had to bum paper and pencils. To add insult to injury I had no athletic abilities, I was short and a little heavy, a perfect target.

Debbie: I am sure the teaching staff came to your aid and school was not that bad.

Alp: For you maybe, but late elementary and junior high is like being confined in cage with all the predators’ and the staff had there own troubles and they as a group are not interested in justice, they want order.

Once, while setting in class, a black girl from the previous class came back to get a dollar bill she had left in the desk and of course it was not there. The teacher (also black) asked me if I had a dollar and I said yes in change but I did not have any paper money.
The teacher told me to give my change to her and I refused. So the teacher sent me to the office to see the principal, who upon hearing the story told me to go back to class.

Debbie: I still do not understand what you are driving at.

Alp: The point I am trying to make is that all the schools I went to until mid High School I was a target of physical and verbal abuse by the black student body and the staff was indifferent.
Being a lone white boy in a black environment, meant lots of opportunities’ to avoid games like; let’s beat the hell out of the white boy or my favorite let’s through him down three flights of stairs and see if he bounces.

So just like Shirley Sherrod my view of another group of people was shaped by my past experiences.

Debbie: So you are a racist! I knew it and by your own words. Is it just black people or do you hate brown people too?

Alp: Well I am not claming the title to racism and as a side note I got along well with the Mexican kids, who had a lot more in common with me than there fellow black students.

It was after I joined the Army that I saw the light.

Debbie: As I understand it the Army has mandatory race relation classes, I am sure they lined you out.

Alp: That is true, but before the Army brass gets excited, all that is required is that you stay awake and mimic some participation.

What really helped is that starting in Basic training I had a lot of black Drill Sergeants and half of my class was black and I was looking for favoritism or racism. I did not find it all the NCOs treated ever one the same (no slack) you either made the grade or you where out.

Once I arrived at my permanent party duty station my unit was thoroughly integrated and race was not a big issue (it was not gone but it was keep suppressed, in all groups).
My Supply Sgt was a black man married to a white woman and one of the kindest people I ever meet, he and his wife taught me to play Spades and I even baby sat his boys.

It caused me to re-evaluate my view on life.

Debbie: So you hate mixed marriages too! I believe the term Mexican is a hateful slang, you bastard!

Alp: One: When I was young, interracial marriage was rare and frowned upon by all sides. Now I could care less, I have meet too many good people to be concerned about the amount of melatonin in there skin.
Two: The term Mexican might be a bad word in the political correct world but all the Mexican people I knew where/are proud of the term and if they where from some where else they would say so.
I also know that if you use the term wetback you’re fighting skills better be up to date or you need to be correct.
Three: My parents where married, and I knew them both and F**K you.

Debbie: Calm down, what exactly is your point to this long rambling blog post?

Alp: Black writers and commentators and even André Carson, a Democratic Congress man from Indiana and a member of the Congressional Black Caucus, suggested last week that members of the tea party in Congress are indistinguishable from rabid violent racists.
Also if you question any thing about President Obama; you are a racist and to be honest I am tired of hearing it, the President is an Uber liberal socialist-progressive and so is the elite on both coasts and in the Ivy League schools, let’s not forget most of the media.
But the rest of the nation is largely center right conservative and Christian.

Debbie: Your sooo wrong, we will see.
Alp: The President had what it took to get elected, but unfortunately he did not have the skill set to be president, although I feel he is a much better president now, than when he started.
Regardless I would still have a beer with him.

Debbie: You are nut’s, a fully brain washed nut; it’s you Tea Party morons who are holding the entire nation up.

Alp: First of all we are not Terrorist, Hobbits, nuts, extremists etc….. We are tired of spend and tax or tax and spend.
The first issue is the base line budget or base line budgeting.

Personally that is the main issue for me and I could actually agree with the Democrats on other issues, but not there methods of solving the nations troubles.

Debbie: There is hope yet.
